LOWER DIR: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has asked the caretaker government and the election commission of Pakistan to ensure general elections on Feb 8 as its delay would lead the country toward anarchy and chaos. He was addressing a party workers’ convention as chief guest at Khazana Kotkay here on Friday. The JI workers from all parts of the Jandol sub division attended the event. The JI Youth wing district president Ateequr Rehman, JI tehsil chief Humayun Khan, Shuiab Ahmad and others also spoke on the occasion.
The JI chief said that neither democracy nor martial law existed in Pakistan and a remote-controlled democracy in the country would never resolve problems faced by the nation. He said that holding free and transparent general elections on time was the only solution to end terrorism, unemployment and price hike. He said that the leadership of all the ruling parties were involved in corruption and looting of public money.
The JI chief condemned the caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar for accepting a two-states solution to the problem of Palestine and said the PM had no mandate to accept a solution which was not acceptable to the Palestinians. He said the silence of Muslim rulers on the Gaza situation was condemnable. He said the JI fully supported the Palestinians and Kashmiri cause.
About the deteriorating law and order situation he said that hundreds of civilians and personnel of the armed forces were martyred during the last year 1600 bomb blasts and terrorist acts. He said that so far 80 thousand Pakistanis had lost lives in anti-terrorism fight.

Siraj said the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank had mortgaged the country through its loans. He said the PML-N, PPP and PTI all were responsible for the current economic crisis. He said that millions of youths lacked job opportunities. He said the green passport of Pakistan had no value abroad. He said the rulers had destroyed the country and they wanted the nation to elect them again. The JI chief asked youths to vote for his party. He said the ending of corruption would be his party’s top priority. He said that youths would be provided with suitable jobs and national resources would be distributed with justice.
He said that peace, rule of law and a stable economy were essential for a developed country. He said that no one felt secure on the road and in streets and squares. He said that innocent citizens were being killed on the roads and markets. He said that public support was needed for restoration of lasting peace as only security forces could not be succeeded in it.
