Islamabad:– Journalists have lodged a formal complaint against singer and YouTuber Hassan Iqbal Chishti through their lawyer, Bina Shahid Advocate, with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing in Islamabad.
Complainant Razi Tahir, a freelance journalist, is supported by witnesses Court Reporter Qamar Maken and journalists Obaid Bhatti, Shahid Haq Nawaz, and Ali Rehan.
The complaint arises from a video posted by Hassan Iqbal Chishti on his YouTube Channel and TikTok Account. The video, which has since gone viral, contains content that the complainants describe as “extremely discriminatory, racial, unethical, and un-Islamic” towards females, who constitute approximately 49.6% of Pakistan’s population.
In their complaint, the journalists assert that Chishti’s statements, particularly his claim that “Every girl having a mobile is a prostitute,” are not only offensive but also a blatant violation of the principles of Islam and the Constitution of Pakistan. They emphasize that Article 25 and 25-A of the Constitution guarantee the equality of citizens and the right to education without discrimination based on sex.
The complainants further highlight a famous hadith reported by Anas ibn Malik, “Acquisition of knowledge is binding on all Muslims” (Source: Sunan Ibn Majah 224), underscoring that education in Islam is equally important for both genders.
The slanderous nature of Chishti’s content, according to the complaint, has caused immense pain and distress to millions across Pakistan. The journalists are calling for immediate legal action under Cyber Crime law and other relevant laws to address this issue.
The FIA Cyber Crime Wing in Islamabad is expected to take prompt action on this matter to uphold the principles of equality and justice enshrined in the country’s legal framework.
