Pacer Junaid Khan was not impressed among New Zealand’s top players as he preferred the Indian Premier League (IPL) to the upcoming five-match T20I tour of Pakistan.
It should be noted that Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitch Santner, and Kane Williamson will not feature in the series due to Indian Premier League commitments.
“It’s sad to see the leagues take precedence over a team that has given them all the respect.” 11/12 senior [New Zealand] players are unavailable for international series,” Junaid wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Wellington’s Tim Robinson and Canterbury’s Will O’Rourke have been selected in New Zealand’s T20I squad for the first time.
Team New Zealand flies to Pakistan next Friday (April 12), with the first match in Rawalpindi on Thursday, April 18.
