Directed by Nihil Nagesh Bhatt, the Hindi original will release in the US on July 4. The film, which received international attention at the Toronto International Film Festival (Midnight Madness) and the Tribeca Film Festival, follows star-crossed lovers Amrit (Lakshya) and Tulika (Tanya Maniktala) as they plan an arranged wedding. Determined to defeat Tulika, Amrit undertakes a daring rescue mission with his friend Wiresh.

Killing action veterans impressed, with Chad Stahelski (producer at 87Eleven Entertainment) called “one of the most moving, wild and creative films I’ve seen in a while.” The Nihil director praised Nagesh Bhatt’s “seamless action sequences” and said he was excited to bring the story to a larger audience through the English remake.
A collaboration between famous studios
The remake will be a joint venture between 87Eleven Entertainment and the original production companies Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. Karan Johar’s world-famous Dharma Productions and India’s first Oscar-winning studio Sikhya Entertainment (The Elephant Whisperers) are excited about the project.
In a joint statement, producers 87Eleven Entertainment said they were happy to make the film in English. The partnership was seen as a “huge win for Hindi cinema” and proof of the film’s international appeal.
