Versurmer: Britain’s King Charles III called for unity at France’s D-Day commemoration on Thursday, as it marked 80 years since the Allies reversed the outcome of World War Two in Normandy.
He paid tribute to the fallen Allied soldiers at Ver-sur-Mer, France, to the dead French civilians, and to the bravery of the French Resistance.
“Let us pray that such sacrifices will not be made again.”
He said it was an honor to meet so many veterans over the years and hear their testimonies firsthand.
“First, our ability to learn from their story diminishes.”
