Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur presided over an important meeting of the Irrigation Department on Thursday to discuss matters related to handover/takeover of CRBC (main canal) from WAPDA to the provincial government and the concerned parties were directed to submit viable proposals for the purpose at the earliest .
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister also directed the concerned authorities to immediately float tenders for protection works aimed at protecting CRBC from flash floods and said that the provincial government had already sanctioned Rs. 62 crore for protection works of CRBC main channel. The chief minister further directed them to take pragmatic steps to rehabilitate and desilt the main CRBC canal and said that the provincial government would also provide the funds required for the purpose on priority.
Briefing the participants about the small dam projects nearing completion, it was said that Latamber Dam, Karak District and Jaroba Dam, Nowshera District are ready to open while Pezu Dam, Laki Marwat Dam is 91% work and Khattak Dam is 90% work Gang. district Kohat, was completed. Similarly, Zamir Gul Dam at 91% and Mukh Banda Dam at 88% physical progress are also on track for completion.
The Chief Minister said that due for completion of small dam projects is a priority of his government and directed the concerned authorities to immediately release the funds required for this purpose. The meeting was attended by Provincial Irrigation Minister Aqib Ullah, Principal Secretary to CM Amjad Ali Khan, Irrigation Secretary Tahir Orakzai and concerned WAPDA officials. Commissioner D.I.Khan also attended the meeting through video link.
