Peshawar: The Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to work on several projects to expand the infrastructure and management structure of the Transmission and Grid Company (KPT-GC) for better functioning of the transmission system.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transmission and Grid Company (KPT&GC) was established for the first time in the history of the province, which will use its resources in the province and plans to build a new transmission line to sell cheap hydropower generated to the industrial sector at a cheaper price. cost
, Chitral/Dir, Kohistan Swat and Mansehra hydropower generated from the river will be supplied to industrial customers through a modern distribution system.
In this regard, a review meeting of KP Transmission and Grid Company was held here with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Energy and Power Secretary Nisar Ahmad Khan in the chair, an official press release issued here on Thursday said.
Apart from that, Energy Department Special Secretary Tashfeen Haidar, Energy Consultant Eng Tila Mohammed, Chief Executive of KPT & GC Mohammad Ayub and Senior Planner Eng. Lukman Hakim also attended the meeting.
Meeting participant, Consultant Energy Engineer Tila Muhammad said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transmission and Grid Company was established in February 2021, with the main objective of providing electricity from renewable energy sources, including hydroelectric power, to consumers in the province. better form of self-transmission system.
Currently, the Pakhtunkhwa Power Development Authority (PEDO) says that the province produces about 300 MW of cheap hydropower, but with the completion of the hydropower project in the next 2 to 3 years, 000,000 MW of cheap electricity will be generated. .
He said, the provincial government prefers to use electricity to develop the industrial sector in the province. He said that the company will start operational work for construction of 500 KW and 220 KW transmission lines in Chitral region this year, while plans for construction of transmission lines in Kohistan, Swat and Mansehra have also been prepared.
He also informed that electricity will be provided through the province’s own grid with cheap electricity generation through solar power, wind power, solid waste and gas, and annual revenue of billions of rupees from the provincial transmission system.
Taking this opportunity, KP Energy Secretary Nisar Ahmad Khan was directed to finalize the plan prepared by the company chairman and other members of his team. The Secretary agreed to send the recommendations of the department to the KP Prime Minister soon. KP Transmission and Grid hopes that the new transmission system will prove to be a game changer for the development of the industrial sector in the province.
