The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Department organized its third online Khuli kachehree, where the Minister for Food, Zahir Shah Toru, Secretary Food Zarif ul Muani and Director General Wasif Saeed directly listened to public complaints about Price hike and adulteration in food items, reaffirming the government’s commitment to addressing citizens’ concerns promptly.
In a bid to enhance governance and ensure direct access to government officials, Zahir Shah said that the initiative of Khulikachehree through social media platforms has proven to be an effective method. Through this platform, public representatives and provincial officers have become more accessible to the general public, allowing for immediate redressal of grievances related to food items and services in the market.
The Khulikachehree, conducted by Food Department and was live-streamed on official Facebook pages of Food department and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority. Citizens utilized various channels including telephone, official WhatsApp, and Facebook comments to lodge complaints regarding inflation and substandard food items.
Minister Zahir Shah Toru issued directives on the spot to address public complaints and instructed stringent actions against those involved in artificial price hikes and adulteration in edible items. He lauded the steps taken by the Food department and KPFSHFA to alleviate public grievances and emphasized the importance of maintaining the quality and affordability of food essentials.

During the session, Minister Toru urged relevant authorities to intensify crackdowns on profiteers and ensure strict penalties for offenders to curb inflation effectively in the province. The minister categorically stated that the sale of adulterated food items would not be tolerated, emphasizing the need for stringent quality control measures.
Furthermore, Zahir Shah commended the successful organization of the online open kachehri, acknowledging the significance of social media platforms in fostering transparent governance. He reiterated the KP government’s commitment to prioritize the provision of quality and affordable food items to the people across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“The utilization of social media platforms for addressing public concerns and finding solutions fosters stronger ties between the government and the people” said the minister. The Minister emphasized that such initiatives serve as a bridge between the government and the citizens, ensuring effective communication and responsiveness to the needs of the masses.
