Islamabad: Lawmakers in the National Assembly on Friday urged the government to focus on people-oriented policies and give more latitude to the agricultural and information technology sectors.
Leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan) Mohammad Farooq Sattar, while participating in the budget debate, termed the budget for 2024-25 as normal, reflecting the continuity of his policies for the past 77 years.
Sattar urged the government to focus on agriculture and criticized higher taxes on wage earners.
He called for pro-poor measures in the budget and asked the government to review the National Finance Commission (NFC) award.
He said there is a need to solve the water problem in Karachi and provide more funds to improve the city’s drainage system.
He also supports more incentives to attract foreign direct investment and policies that promote a growth-oriented economy.
Union Councilor Sunni Rana Atif thanked his party for giving him the opportunity to participate in the elections and promote the party’s vision.
He highlighted the problems of his constituents and asked the government to address these problems in every district without discrimination.
He urged the government to resolve the issue of IPP payment opportunities and take steps to increase the country’s imports.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Asia Naz Tanoli said that in 2018, the government has solved the burden problem and more funds have been spent on development projects during the tenure of PML-N.
He warned that the PML-N government saved the country from bankruptcy and sacrificed its politics.He asked the government to start metro bus service from Taxila to Islamabad.
Umer Farooq, a member of the Sunni Ittehad Council, thanked the party chief for handing over the ticket and thanked the people of the constituency for voting.
He said, the problem of corruption must be solved.
Farooq recommended more concessions for agricultural, industrial and information technology sectors as these sectors will create more job opportunities for the people.
He also highlighted the law and order problem in the constituency.
