LAHORE: – Lawyers fraternity on the call of various Bar Associations to strike against arrests and police torture across the country.
Lahore High Court lawyers will hold a public body meeting to condemn police arrests and torture. Security has been beefed up at the Lahore High Court (LHC) due to possible protests by lawyers.
The lawyer was denied access to his vehicle. No lawyer’s car will be stopped at the Lahore High Court, security officials said. Water cannons were placed outside the Lahore High Court. Additional police forces were deployed inside and outside the High Court.
In addition, black suits boycotted court cases in other cities across the country to protest police brutality.
Karachi Bar Association officials have locked all entry points of city courts. All shops and restaurants inside the court are closed. The President of the Karachi Bar Association has written to the four district judges to stay the proceedings against the case.
However, Malir district and other courts were functioning as usual. Also, Gujranwala lawyers went on strike against the call of Pakistan Bar Council. President of Lawyers Amir Munir said that lawyers strongly condemn police torture and firing of tear gas at black suits.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lawyer did not appear in court on a call from the Peshawar High Court Bar Association. In addition to taking action against those responsible, the court demanded the immediate release of his colleagues.
It can be recalled that lawyers are boycotting the trial at the call of the Pakistan Bar Council, and the police are monitoring the torture and arrests in black suits.
