MADRID: Luka Modric has signed a new one-year contract with Real Madrid that will keep him in the Spanish capital until 2025, the club confirmed in a press release on Wednesday.
Modric, 38, will continue his journey with the European champions for another year after winning La Liga and the Champions League with Los Blancos last season.
He quickly became an important player for the club and has contributed greatly ever since.
He won 26 titles with Real Madrid: 6 Champions Leagues, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 4 Leagues, 2 Copas del Rey and 5 Spanish Super Cups. Modric is one of only five players to have won 6 European Cups and has the most titles in our club’s history,” added the club.
He was part of the FIFA FIFPro World XI six times and was voted by the champions. Twice the league’s best midfielder. He won 1 Ballon d’Or and 1 Ballon d’Or at the Club World Cup.
It’s worth noting that Modric’s extension with Madrid is crucial as the Whites have lost one of their key midfielders, Toni Kroos, who has announced his retirement from football at the age of 34.
