LAHORE: Today at Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, the T20 tri-series between the hosts, Bangladesh Women U19, Pakistan Women U19, and Sri Lanka U19 began.
Six games in a double-round robin format will be played in the tri-series, with the top two teams advancing to the final. Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium will host all games from January 24 to February 2.
Pakistan will play Sri Lanka in their opening tournament encounter tomorrow. At 1:00 p.m. local time, the first ball of the game will be bowled.
One of the six players who made up the Pakistan Women’s U19 roster for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2023 is Mahnoor Aftab, who will captain her country in the tri-series.
The other players who competed for Pakistan at the U19 world championship last year were Anosha Nasir, Eyman Fatima, Laila Nasir, Rida Aslam, and Zaib-un-Nisa.
“This is the first tri-series of its kind for us so it is a really exciting opportunity,” stated Mahnoor Aftab, captain of Pakistan Women U19. It is encouraging for us because competitions such as these allow us to demonstrate our abilities and advance to the senior squad. If we put in our all in the field, I think the outcomes will hopefully work out for us.Our preparation for the series was greatly aided by the training camps. Since we have also been training in Bangladesh, I am optimistic about our readiness. It helps that Karachi and Cox’s Bazar are somewhat similar.
