Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Shehryar Afridi has expressed his displeasure over the internal affairs of the political party and said on Sunday that he respects unity with its founder Imran Khan.
“I can’t tell you the pain I’m going through, but the terms of the party’s conduct must be accepted (by us),” he said.
He said he was waiting for the right moment to break his silence, but added that there were some things that would be “criminal” to withhold.
Since Khan’s arrest after the May 9 violence, there has been much controversy within the PTI.
Once among the political and legal leaders of the party, Sher Afzal Marwat later became the center of discord.
In a “controversy” in PTI, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on March 25 said there was a power struggle in the Imran Khan-led party that could lead to its dissolution or promotion.
At a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar said senior PTI leaders like Gohar Ali Khan and Sher Afzal Khan were taking conflicting positions on various issues. Regret the “childish attitude” applied by PTI, the national party.
He asked the PTI leadership to stay away from internal politics and play a proper role in strengthening the economy.
