Karachi: Major roads in Karachi were blocked for several hours on Wednesday morning, causing traffic to snarl due to protests by lawyers.
The affected areas include Sharea Faisal, Qayyumabad Road, National Highway, Korangi Road, Sunset Boulevard, Gizri Road and others.
Containers are used to block the road leading to long queues of vehicles. Commuters could not reach their workplaces on time due to road closures.
The defense is very congested from Moru to Punjab Chowrangi. The traffic police advised travelers to take alternative routes to their destination.
The protest came amid allegations by lawyers that truck drivers were assaulted by police. Later, according to media reports, lawyers announced that they would drop their complaint.
The SSP said successful talks with Southern lawyers were held and the protest ended.
The traffic police are now working to regulate the flow of traffic and ease the situation for passengers.
