Islamabad: United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Ms. Veraya Kate Somvongsiri has invited the Minister of Economy, Ahad Khan Cheman to discuss issues of mutual interest.
The Minister welcomed Ms. Keith and acknowledged the longstanding and strategic partnership between Pakistan and the United States (US). The Minister appreciated the US support to the 2022 flood victims and highlighted the importance of US economic assistance to Pakistan in various sectors including energy, economic development, resilience, education, health, and drug control. The Minister also discussed various aspects of the Development Assistance Agreement signed between the two countries after a gap of 13 years.
The Mission Director thanked the Minister and reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the United States to support Pakistan through development assistance in agreed priorities such as a climate of sustainable economic growth, inclusive and accountable democratic governance, and a healthy and educated population. He also informed the minister about the development portfolio funded by the US government through USAID. He assured that the US government will always be there to support Pakistan in achieving its economic and development goals.
The Minister thanked the US and IDUSAID for their continuous support to the Government of Pakistan for socio-economic development and at the same time said that Pakistan is committed to close cooperation with IDUSAID for the effective implementation and monitoring of the projects being implemented. to further strengthen bilateral relations.
