DARWIN: Pakistan Shaheens secured a decisive 148-run win over Bangladesh A in the first four-day match in Darwin.
Chasing a target of 428 runs, Bangladesh A were bowled out for 279 thanks to a fine bowling display from the Shaheens. Mehran Mumtaz was an outstanding performer, claiming four crucial wickets.
His success included the dismissals of Parvez Hossain Emon (57), Aich Mollah (4), Shahadat Hossain Dipu (42) and Hasan Murad (0).
Support came from bowler Shahnawaz Dahani, who took three crucial wickets, dismissing Shadman Islam (26), Amite Hasan (71) and Ariful Islam (4). Khurram Shehzad, Kamran Gulam and Mohammad Ali contributed a wicket each.
Mohammad Huraira was named Man of the Match for his extraordinary double century in the first innings.
Opting to bat first, Pakistan Shaheens amassed 467 runs for the loss of three wickets. Hurair’s impressive 218 off 247 balls and Kamran Ghulam’s unbeaten 100 off 167 deliveries anchored the innings.
In reply, Bangladesh A were restricted to 266 runs with Khurram Shahzad producing a remarkable spell and taking six wickets.
Pakistan Shaheens built a significant lead and scored 226 runs in their second innings before declaring. Omair Bin Yousuf added an unbeaten 100 off 123 balls and Mubasir Khan contributed a decisive 95.
The second four-day match will be held from July 26 to 29 at the same venue.
