LAHORE: Cricket icon and former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad has expressed reservations about recent appointments to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
In a news conference in Karachi, Miandad stated that the current situation in Pakistan cricket is unprecedented and does not correspond to the practices of other cricketing nations.
“It does not happen anywhere in cricket what is happening here in our Pakistan,” Miandad said, emphasizing the importance of making significant efforts to improve sport.
Miandad’s statements follow the appointment of Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi as the PCB’s new chairman, following the departure of Zaka Ashraf.
Miandad expressed his disappointment with the recent appointments, stating that those in power tend to promote their own connections to critical posts within the cricketing organization.
“Whoever becomes Prime Minister should work for the progress of the country and cricket,” Miandad said, calling for a more fair and merit-based approach to PCB appointments.
