LAHORE: Caretaker Punjab Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram said on Thursday that he expects the new government to play its role in supporting the pharmaceutical industry.
“Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry is well positioned in the world and should be happy with its progress,” the minister said during his visit to the 16th Pak Pharma and Healthcare Expo at the Lahore Exhibition Grounds. The two-day Pak Pharma and Healthcare exhibition was organized by Prime Event Management with the support of Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA). He said major advances in science have also transformed pharmaceutical businesses around the world.
Dr. Javed lauded the organization of another major pharmaceutical exhibition and hoped that the trade agreements would not only benefit the local industry and foreign companies but also boost investment in the country.
Earlier, the minister visited various stands and interacted with local and foreign exhibitors. Exhibition organizer Kamran Abbasi told the minister that 400 stalls have been set up to display medical and laboratory equipment and chemicals. Booths were set up by manufacturers of pharmaceutical equipment, laboratory equipment, research and testing laboratories, suppliers of raw materials and packaging, pharmaceutical printing, pharmaceutical chemicals, laboratory chemicals and pharmaceutical devices, and manufacturers of hospital and healthcare equipment.
Abbasi said more than 200 business deals worth crores of rupees were signed during the two-day event. He said that a conference under the aegis of Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) also continued for both the days.
The two-day event, attended by 100 foreign and domestic exhibitors, attracted a large number of people associated with the pharmaceutical and medical business.
