Islamabad: Pakistan’s leading digital microfinance bank Mobilink Bank, continuing its position as a responsible corporate entity, has launched a national planting drive to increase the country’s forest cover and reduce the direct impact of climate change. Teams from 109 Mobilink Bank branches across the country participated in the event with great enthusiasm and planted around 5000 saplings to protect the environment and hand over a peaceful and green Pakistan to future generations.
The campaign is part of the Climate Action Plan, which aims to protect a sustainable and prosperous Pakistan from the effects of climate change. Sustainability is at the core of the Bank’s corporate philosophy, which seeks to leverage effective social responsibility initiatives for the greater good of society.
Mobilink Bank is part of the VEON Group, a global digital operator that provides integrated connectivity and digital services to nearly 160 million customers in six dynamic markets, home to 7% of the world’s population.
The field visits organized in many towns and cities. They hope that this work will not only improve the air quality and natural beauty of urban and rural centers, but will also positively affect the lives of residents and promote environmental protection.
Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary, Chief Operating Officer, Mobilink Bank shared his thoughts on the plantation drive: “Mobilink Bank is proud to have achieved the milestone of planting approximately 5,000 trees across the country under its Climate Action Programme, Sustainable Change. The program stems from our organizational values of sustainability and social responsibility, where we strive to create value together for the communities we serve. The need for aggressive planting cannot be overemphasized as Pakistan is among the eight countries most affected by climate change. Our program strengthens climate action to protect life, natural resources and eyes the livelihood of vulnerable communities, especially women. We believe that we can build a stable and prosperous future for our country.”
Mobilink Bank recognizes that environmental responsibility is not only about external impact, but also about developing a culture of sustainability in the workforce. By participating in environmental initiatives, the Bank empowers employees to become active agents of change. When employees work together to achieve a common goal, environmental stewardship develops cooperation and teamwork. It reinforces civic responsibility, encouraging employees to translate ecologically conscious practices outside the workplace into everyday life.
