LAHORE: The Inter-Provincial Coordination Committee has issued a notification appointing Mohsin Naqvi, the temporary Chief Minister of Punjab, to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Board of Governors.
Patron and caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq made the appointment under Article 10 (1) (d) of the PCB Constitution of 2014. He also approved the resignation of Zaka Ashraf, the former chairman of the PCB management committee.
Following the resignation’s approval, Shah Khawar of the PCB election commission has taken over as interim chairman of the board in accordance with the established regulations. He will serve as PCB chief until elections for a new chairman are held.
The prime minister had directed Mr Naqvi to become a member of the Board of Governors.
The caretaker CM has been charged with reconstituting the board of governors, as elections for the PCB chairman will take place when the new board is formed.
Mr Naqvi will run for the PCB chairmanship. The permanent chief is appointed for a three-year term.
