ISLAMABAD: In the midst of rising inflation, Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) has emerged as a beacon of support for laborers and the underprivileged, introducing the “Mari Mobile Dastarkhawan” in collaboration with Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS). This initiative, operating as a mobile food kitchen, extends a daily lifeline to hundreds of deserving individuals.
The “Mari Mobile Dastarkhawan,” a fruitful partnership between Mari Petroleum and CDRS, is actively providing freshly cooked meals to the working-class residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Launched to ensure the provision of high-quality meals, the program has been successfully meeting the daily food requirements of hundreds of individuals.
Ubaid Ur Rehman Zafar, Executive Director Operations, reported that since April 2021, approximately six hundred thousand people have benefitted from this initiative. Daily, the “Mari Mobile Dastarkhawan” serves two meals, including breakfast and dinner, to six hundred individuals, encompassing laborers, underprivileged individuals, and other marginalized groups.
“In the face of inflation, utmost attention is paid to ensuring the highest standard of food quality. The breakfast menu includes Alo Bhujiya, chickpeas, and Haleem, while the dinner menu offers delectable options such as Chicken Qorma, Chicken Biryani, Chicken Polao Raita, and Salad. Additionally, a sweet dish is included in the dinner menu.” he further added.
Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Ubaid Ur Rehman emphasized that notable personalities from various domains, including showbiz, sports, and media, have visited the “Mari Mobile Dastarkhawan.” The initiative stands as a unique exemplar of public welfare in the twin cities, where the expressions of gratitude from deserving individuals dissolve any fatigue experienced by our team.
Residents benefiting from the “Mari Mobile Dastarkhawan” have lauded the quality of food and ethical practices upheld by Mari Petroleum and CDRS. The initiative not only addresses the immediate needs of the community but also serves as a testament to corporate social responsibility in Pakistan.
Outside the Poly Clinic Hospital, after partaking in a meal from the mobile Dastarkhawan, a Security Guard, Muhammad Akram shared that he eagerly anticipates the mobile van every Thursday because on this day, he saves money on both breakfast and dinner. Rahman Khan, a laborer hailing from an underprivileged background, also praised the Mobile Dastarkhawan, urging the establishment of more such units to help impoverished workers combat inflation.
