ISLAMABAD: The MQM-Pakistan has reportedly asked the PML-N for its share in the federal government as much as possible.

As per reports, the MQM has demanded the Sindh governorship and five ministries in the Centre. The MQM leadership also emphasized amendments to the local government system and constitutional amendments.

These terms were reportedly discussed during negotiations between the two parties on the issue of government formation in the Centre. The meeting was held at the ministers’ enclave in Islamabad.

Both parties considered various options for working together in the federation. The MQM-P also asked the PML-N for its share in the central government as much as possible.

Among the demands put forward, the MQM has insisted on the Sindh governorship as well as emphasised on local government system and constitutional amendments.

Moreover, the MQM leaders continue their own talks after meeting the PML-N. The party insists that getting an important post is the right of a party that won 17 seats in the National Assembly.

The MQM side was represented by Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori, party’s Senior Deputy Convener Mustafa Kamal and Dr. Farooq Sattar, while the PML-N delegation included Ishaq Dar, Ayaz Sadiq, Azam Nazeer Tarar and Muhammad Ahmed Khan.

The two parties agreed to continue the process of reconciliation and mutual cooperation for political, democratic and economic stability in the country, as per the MQM statement. Government formation will be carried forward on the basis of ensuring fair distribution of resources and power, it added.
