KHYBER: To encourage literary activities in the area, a mushaira(a poetic symposium) was held here in Landi Kotal press club, district Khyber on Thursday evening.
The poetic event was organized by the local press club and poets from across tehsil Landi Kotal participated in it.
President Landi Kotal press club, Ahmad Nabi presided over the mushaira while renowned poet Professor Dr Tawab Masroor was the chief guest on the occasion.
Participants’ poets and writers including Tawab Masoor,Kabir Khan Kabir,Abdul Ghafoor Ghafoor,Namadar,Iran Mazloom,Saleh Muhammad Saleh,Dilawar Khan Dilawar,Ayaz Masroor,Nadir Shah,Sherzaman Adil,Muhammad Dost Cheshti and others presented their pieces of poetry that were applauded by the audience
Earlier, addressing on the occasion Dr Tawab Masoor congratulated the journalists for organizing the mushaira and said such kind of literary events would certainly promote poets and poetry in the area.
Poets and writers are the neglected portion of the society therefore arranging mushairas for them is a valuable effort that needs to be appreciated, he remarked.
Giving comments President Press club, Ahmad Nabi said that besides their professional engagements, the local media persons set up mushaira to contribute in literary activities and vowed that the events would be organized on a regular basis in future.
At the end a resolution was also passed, demanding of the Inspector General Frontier Corp (IGFC) that like renovation works done to Hamza Baba complex, a tomb should be constructed of the famous, Pashto poet, Khatir Afridi.
