He also recalled that President Xi and the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, jointly inaugurated the world’s first fully green parliament by converting the energy needs of the Pakistani parliament to solar energy. The landmark project symbolizes the commitment of the two countries to work together for a brighter, cleaner and safer future.
In addition, the speaker noted the continuous cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries and said that the parliaments of Pakistan and China have a climate of cooperation, mutual trust and practical cooperation. He said, during his tenure as Chairman of the National Assembly, he had the privilege to lead the parliamentary delegation to China twice at the invitation of the Chairman of the National People’s Congress. This exchange led to the deepening of bilateral relations and facilitated the implementation of CPEC projects through parliamentary oversight, as the two countries actively participated in every international and regional parliamentary forum, such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Conference of Speakers. sharing their common interests, sovereignty and territorial integrity promotes stability.
Sardar Ayaz Sadyk said that during his tenure as Speaker, the National Assembly of Pakistan had the right to hold the first Speaker’s Conference on “Regional Connectivity and Countering Violent Extremism” consisting of Afghanistan, China, and Iran. Pakistan, Russia and Turkey. He also said that the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC has ensured the vigilance of the government and monitored the progress of CPEC projects by regularly reporting to the Parliament of Pakistan.
