ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently held a crucial meeting with Chinese embassy officials in Islamabad, which focused on the ongoing investigation into the Shangla suicide attack that killed five Chinese nationals.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide an update to the visiting Chinese Special Investigation Team on the progress of the investigation so far.
During the meeting, Minister Naqvi briefed the Chinese team on the status of investigation into the Shangla attack and assured them of Pakistan’s determination to bring the perpetrators to justice. Discussions also revolved around strengthening security measures and ensuring overall protection of Chinese citizens in Pakistan.
Besides meeting the Special Investigation Team, Minister Naqvi held discussions with the Chinese Ambassador and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for China-Pakistan cooperation.
The Chinese embassy on Thursday reiterated that no attempt to sabotage China-Pakistan cooperation would be allowed.
“We will continue to support Pakistan’s socio-economic development and efforts to improve the lives of its people. We are committed to working with the people of both countries and providing them with maximum benefit,” the embassy spokesman said.
The spokesman went on to describe terrorism as the “common enemy of mankind”.
“The global community has a shared responsibility to fight terrorism and stop the recurrence of similar tragedies. China and Pakistan are determined and ready to make terrorists pay for their heinous act,” he added.
