ISLAMABAD: The National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Friday predicted that rainfall is expected in different parts of the country in the next 3 days.
The NEOC warning highlighted, “If rainfall exceeds 50-100 mm, it may lead to urban/flash flooding in local nullahs and tributaries. Urban areas likely to be exposed include Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot and Rawalpindi, while Galliyat, Kashmir, Kohistan, Mansehra, and Murree are prone to landslides and flash floods.”
The NDMA advised the PDMA and the local administration to closely monitor the situation and take appropriate measures to protect the vulnerable population.
The public is advised to take precautionary measures, including maintaining household sewage systems, to prevent water seepage. Report any clogged drains or potential hazards to local authorities immediately. People are advised to exercise caution when traveling to areas prone to landslides. Communities at risk are also advised to follow the guidance of local authorities. The public is urged to download NDMA’s mobile app ‘Pak NDMA Disaster Alert’ for early disaster warning, guidance and precautionary measures.
