Islamabad: The National Electricity Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the electricity tariff by $2.83 per unit for the month of March 20204 due to monthly fuel adjustments, increasing the burden on consumers affected by inflation.
The official notification regarding the price hike said that the price increase is due to the revision of fuel charges and will be reflected in the bills issued in May.
It is announced that the above 2.8372.kW amendment applies to all categories of consumers except Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and residential consumers.
Further, the price hike will not be applicable to K-Electric customers.
“The adjustment will be reflected separately in consumer bills based on the aggregate paid to consumers in March 2024,” he said.
Nepra directed the concerned distribution companies (Discos) to ensure compliance with the court order despite this order.
Last month, the Department of Energy announced that electricity consumers can get a discount of $ 4.12 per unit of electricity in May. has been handed over to Nepra in terms of managing fuel costs.
Earlier in March, Nepra had raised the electricity tariff by $2.75 per unit for the current quarter of the financial year 2023-24, adding additional burden to the huge electricity bills of consumers.
This was confirmed in terms of quarterly adjustments in the second quarter of FY 2023-24, with a unit impact of $2.75 per consumer.
