The Secretary of Education has announced a change in working hours, effective immediately, to reduce the risk associated with extreme heat.
In response to the increased risk of heat waves, federal educational institutions will now be open from 7:30 a.m. to 13.00. These schedule adjustments are intended to ensure the safety and comfort of students and teachers during the hottest hours of the day.
The education secretary said that the implementation of the new plan is important and will be implemented by the summer vacation. The main purpose of the change in working hours is to protect students and teachers from excessive heat exposure.
By reducing exposure to high temperatures, educational institutions aim to create a more conducive learning environment when health is at risk.
The Information Department has issued a weather forecast indicating that most parts of the country will experience hot and dry conditions in the coming days. Central and southern regions will be hotter, and temperatures are expected to rise in some cities.
According to the Met Department, the temperature is expected to reach very high levels in some districts of Sindh. Dice is likely to experience the highest temperatures, with the mercury expected to touch 48 degrees. Sukkur may see temperatures up to 47 degrees, while Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan may touch 45 degrees. Islamabad is expected to see a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius.
