WELLINGTON: New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Monday announced their squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Kane Williamson will lead the Black Cage squad, which will begin in June in the West Indies and the United States.
Selector Sam Wells announced his team at an event at the ANZ Center in Auckland.
“This will be Williamson’s sixth international T20 World Cup appearance and fourth as captain,” NZC said in a press release.
“Tim Southee, who chose his experience in only his seventh T20 World Cup, is now the highest run-scorer in the history of T20 Internationals, well done.
In addition to the experience offered by Williamson and Southee, Trent Boult has been selected in the fifth squad for the T20 World Cup.
“Also, six teams are participating in the Caribbean Premier League T20 tournament.
“Bowler Matt Henry and batsman Rachin Ravindra are the only two members of the 15-member squad without ICC T20 World Cup experience.”
Adam Milne will be sidelined after ankle surgery, while Kyle Jameson was also available for selection after picking up a hip injury.
Gary Stead will be the head coach, Luke Ronchi and Jacob Oram will be the batting and bowling coaches respectively, while James Foster will be New Zealand’s assistant coach focusing on fielding.
