ISLAMABAD: Islamabad United all-rounder Faheem Ashraf is still not satisfied with his performance in Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9.
The 30-year-old has contributed with both bat and ball in the last few matches, but the right-arm pacer wants to do more for the two-time champions.
“Whenever I get a chance, I try to give 100% effort. I have been in this team for seven years and there is a lot of trust between us. When I make a mistake, the team trusts me. The relationship of trust between the players and management is key for the team,” he added.
Faheem appreciated the support he received from captain Shadab Khan and the United team management.
“Having someone’s trust makes a significant difference in life. Some people just say and don’t support, but here in the United States there is real support. We believe in each other until the end. When the team says Rana will do it, it gives me confidence.”
Faheem stressed that whether the performance comes or not, the player has to enjoy the game.
“If you enjoy the game, so will the performance. If you put too much pressure on yourself, the game will suffer. Even if the performance isn’t there, keep enjoying it. Always believe in your hard work and don’t be disappointed.
“When I have time off, I spend time with my family. Spending time with good people can change your outlook on life. I’m not thinking about the World Cup; My focus is on the ongoing PSL. Thinking ahead and doing nothing in the PSL will not be beneficial,” he added.
On the other hand, the left-handed batsman spoke about the importance of rest in the current cricket structure.
“There are so many crickets that relaxation has become essential. The body is like a machine and it is important to give the machine a break. If I play ten games and train every day, it will lead to exhaustion.
“The players should decide if they want to play or not. In Pakistan, players want to ensure that no one replaces them. If you are a good artist, no one can replace you,” he added.
It should be noted that United need a win to confirm their place in the play-offs and will look to go all out against Multan Sultans in the 27th match on March 10 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
