Pavegen demonstrated the technology at the World Energy Future Conference in the United Arab Emirates. Underneath every tile the company creates is an electromagnetic generator. When you step on a tile, a generator produces electricity.
The company claims that this energy can be converted into electricity. Although the energy produced by the tiles is relatively low, it can be used to light street lights and charge small appliances.
In Washington, Pavegen tiles are used to power LED lights and have been installed in the UK to monitor monitors and mobile phone charging stations.
