Although we seem to be busy during our pre-romantic period, we really need to relax and spend as much time as possible. In fact, even just one lazy day a week can have great benefits for mental and physical health.
If you’re the type of person who feels guilty for taking it easy (which) or feels like you’re having ‘non-productive’ moments, reframe what you consider productive, because actually giving your body what it needs is really important. for productivity and well-being!
Reading a book or scrolling on your phone while you sit and watch TV may seem lazy, but what you are doing is giving your body a chance to escape from the hectic days.
A 2016 article published by the University’s Counseling and Support Services suggests that we really need to take time to relax. They say, “Plan your time to enjoy a cup of coffee with friends, sit in a quiet meditation session, or work on an art project that has been neglected.
“They are just as important as the to-dos on your weekly calendar. See that you don’t cancel them unless there is an emergency.”
That’s because research shows that relaxation keeps your heart healthy, reduces stress, reduces muscle stiffness, and can help prevent depression, anxiety, and obesity.
According to mental health charity Mind, some of these activities can help you think more clearly:
Read a book or magazine, even if it’s just for a few minutes
Exercise, watch a movie, play with your pet, or try a new recipe
Just a few minutes walk
Consider taking a class you’ve been wanting to try, like yoga
Try seated exercises
Breathe through your nose and mouth. Try to keep your hands down and relax and put your hands on your stomach – they should rise as you inhale and fall as you exhale!
Count while breathing. Start counting “one, two, three, four” on the inhale and “one, two, three, four” on the exhale. Try to adjust what you are comfortable with
Try painting, drawing, crafting, playing an instrument, dancing, baking or sewing – don’t worry about how it will look when you’re done, enjoy the process.
Whether it’s spending time in nature in your garden or taking a walk in some green space
Try to choose different instruments and listen carefully to your favorite music
