Islamabad, – Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan H.E. Samir Sharif called Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan.

Minister Jam Kamal Khan said that the government of Pakistan is committed to building strong economic ties with other countries. He said, in the past three months, the government has taken important steps in developing diplomatic and economic relations and achieved important progress.
“Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Azerbaijan. We must continue cooperation in various sectors such as tourism, transportation, energy security and defense, but more efforts are needed,” said Minister Jam.
He also stressed the need to conclude a preferential trade agreement and a bilateral transit trade agreement before the deadline.
Deputy Minister Sherifov said that Azerbaijan is ready for closer cooperation with Pakistan in all areas of mutual interest.
He said that the president of Azerbaijan is going to visit Pakistan soon, where several alliances are expected to be signed.
Minister Jam also suggested holding a B2B meeting which could be held in Pakistan or Azerbaijan.
Both sides agreed on the need for long-term and practical mechanisms to strengthen monitoring
bilateral trade and cooperation to propose ways to achieve the desired goal.
Noting that travel between the two countries is easy, Sharifov said Azerbaijan received 55,000 Pakistani visitors last year due to its favorable visa policy.
He also said that Azerbaijan is the first Central Asian country to establish direct flights to Pakistan and establish greater connectivity.
Minister Khan invited Azerbaijani companies to invest in Pakistan and cited the country’s efficient labor market as a key advantage.
He said that Saudi Arabia and China are encouraging Azerbaijani investors to take advantage of the opportunities available in Pakistan.
The meeting marks the beginning of a new era of cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, expressing the firm commitment of both parties to deepen economic and diplomatic relations.
