Pakistan Navy Islamabadn has deployed its warship PNS YARMOOK with a helicopter on board in the Indian Ocean for the safety and security of merchant ships going to and from Pakistani ports. During deployment, the PN Ship will conduct both independent and combined operations alongside other friendly and partner nations to achieve the common goals of a safe and secure maritime community. The ship will also call at regional ports for maritime diplomatic missions in line with Pakistan’s foreign policy objectives.
The Pakistan Navy is committed to ensuring freedom of navigation on the high seas and security of international maritime communications in addition to protecting national maritime interests and seaborne trade. Conscious of its national obligations to maintain rules-based order at sea, the Pakistan Navy regularly deploys its warships on Regional Maritime Security Patrol (RMSP) and also contributes to joint maritime security efforts. RMSPs are conducted as a PN initiative to contribute to maritime security and support international efforts against the threat of maritime terrorism, piracy and narco-weapons smuggling.
