DOHA : A significant meeting was held between the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (SAPM OP&HRD), Jawad Sohrab Malik, and the esteemed Minister of State for Interior, Qatar, H.H Abdul Aziz Bin Faisal Bin Mohammed Al Thani, marking a watershed moment in bilateral cooperation and economic development.
During the meeting, the SAPM commended Qatar’s Minister of State Interior on the successful staging of the FIFA World Cup in 2022. He stressed the World Cup-2022’s outstanding nature and high standards, which would serve as a model for other countries. The SAPM emphasized the importance of the Pakistani diaspora in Qatar’s infrastructure development and reiterated a commitment to continue contributing highly skilled and professional workforce to support Qatar’s economic modernization. To secure the continuous movement of Pakistani workers to Qatar, the SAPM suggested the building of additional Qatar Visa Centers (QVCs) around Pakistan, with a focus on Peshawar and Lahore in the initial phase. Furthermore, the SAPM praised Qatar’s humanitarian efforts and dedication to the Gaza crisis, confirming Pakistan’s support for Qatar’s position.
The Minister of State for Interior of Qatar hailed the Pakistani diaspora’s crucial role in Qatar’s growth, underlining Pakistanis and Qataris’ shared values. H.H. emphasized the two countries’ long-standing trade, economic, and defense cooperation. Regarding the QVCs, H.H stated that the suggestion is being considered, and a feasibility study is underway to examine the possibility of opening additional QVCs in Pakistan. Furthermore, subjects of mutual interest and reviewed cooperation in security domains were discussed, as well as strategies for supporting and developing them. During the meeting the SAPM was accompanied by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar and Community Welfare Attaches.
