Temperatures are likely to rise in most parts of Pakistan next week, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department warning of severe heat wave conditions in Sindh, including Karachi, and temperatures above 40 degrees in parts of Punjab.
The press service predicts that the heat wave will continue in many parts of the country, with temperatures gradually rising and possibly exceeding 50 degrees in some places over the next 10 days.
Although conditions are expected to improve slightly in the first week of June, Karachi will fare better than other parts of the country, with temperatures between 33 and 40 degrees.
According to PMD’s daily forecast, Sunday (today) will be hot and humid with humidity reaching 70% and southwesterly winds of 19 km/h.
The PMD also said that the temperature in the city could be between 35-40 degrees.
The heat wave raises concerns about the impact on public health and potential problems with the power grid due to increased demand for cooling. Authorities are urging the public to take precautions and stay hydrated during this difficult time.
Earlier this week, the capital’s administration shortened school hours in Islamabad due to predicted heat wave conditions.
According to the education secretary, school hours in Islamabad will continue from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
After that, schools in Punjab also decided to work for five and a half hours, five days a week. In the notice, Velayat Khamlikami said the new term will be effective from May 18 to May 31.
The school is open from 7am to 11:30am Monday to Thursday and Saturday. The educational institution will be open from 7:00 am to 10:30 am on Friday.
The Punjab government has announced that summer vacation in all schools in the province will begin on June 1 and end on August 14.
