Islamabad : Pakistan and China have repeated their desire for expanded cooperation in the areas of economy, information technology, agriculture, and human resource development for the mutual benefit of the two friendly countries.
This was discussed at a meeting with the visiting Vice Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Mr Sun Weidong, who, together with his delegation, visited President Dr Arif Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr. Mr Jiang Zaidong, the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, also attended the meeting.
The President welcomed the delegation, stating that China was a valued ally who had always backed Pakistan during difficult times. He emphasized that CPEC projects had aided Pakistan’s economic development while also meeting its energy needs.
The President noted that Pakistan is totally committed to the high-quality development of CPEC, and that Chinese cooperation in the next phase of CPEC will be critical for Pakistan’s industrial development. He noted that economic collaboration between the two friendly countries will strengthen bilateral ties. He welcomed China’s assistance in stabilising Pakistan’s economy.
The President stated that Pakistan wished to learn from China’s experience in information technology, education, health, agriculture, and poverty alleviation for its socioeconomic development.
The President stated that Pakistan and China shared similar perspectives on various regional and international issues and collaborated in various forums. He restated Pakistan’s support for China on all major issues, including the “One China” policy, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet, Xinjiang, and the South China Sea. He expressed gratitude to China for its support of Pakistan’s national development and its consistent position on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
The visiting Vice Foreign Minister of China stated that Pakistan and China have a long history of good relations that will only strengthen. He stated that CPEC had produced positive results, and that both countries had enormous potential for increased cooperation in a variety of fields.
He also commended the President for visiting China during the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, adding that his efforts to show solidarity with China would be remembered.
