FLORIDA: All cricketers living in the US after an early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024 taking place chose to stay away from Pakistanis living here after fast bowler Haris Rauf got into a fight with a fan the other day.
Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Haris and some others have cut social ties and only meet with those they know.
The incident took place outside the Harris Lauderdale hotel here, when a Pakistani worker at a nearby restaurant saw Harris asking for a photo. Several fans from Pakistan were also seen around the young man who was seen repeatedly asking Haris for photos. Harris did not listen to any of his requests, maybe he and his wife.
When the fans failed to get his attention, one started making negative comments, saying that Garis has ruined Pakistan’s chances by giving the game to the US.
The comments led to a heated exchange and Harris decided to rush the fan. Despite his wife’s repeated pleas, Harris stepped through the red barrier and saw that there was an argument.
Later, on his X handle, Harris said he had decided to address the incident, but changed his mind when the video surfaced.
“I decided not to reveal it on social media, but after the video came out, I felt the need to address the situation. As public servants, they are open to all kinds of input from the public. You have the right to support or criticize us. However, as far as parents are concerned, and my family is concerned, I will not hesitate to answer accordingly. Regardless of their profession, it is important to respect people and their families.
Harris was criticized for failing to save 15 goals in the final game that brought the United States back in Dallas.
