Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s defense minister expressed concern over the escalation of the situation in Gaza. Pakistan consistently supports a just, comprehensive and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
He also stressed Pakistan’s firm commitment to the SCO platform. Addressing the forum, the Defense Minister said: “I reiterate that Pakistan is proud of its partnership with the SCO and is ready to expand and expand this association.”
Federal Minister for Defense and Defense Production Khawaja Muhammad Asif is leading a Pakistani delegation to Kazakhstan for the annual meeting of Defense Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states.
The meeting discussed security issues in the region, including defense cooperation initiatives.
The Minister of Defense discussed issues of bilateral defense cooperation with the defense ministers of SCO friendly countries.
Various areas such as related regional security, counter-terrorism, the situation in Afghanistan and the review of national security priorities, extremist threats, border management and maritime security were also discussed.
