Islamabad: In response to the vote of the US House of Representatives to demand an investigation into alleged irregularities in Pakistan’s general election, the National Assembly on Friday passed a resolution condemning the decision of the US Congress, calling it “contrary to the facts” and “involved”. . in their domestic affairs.
The resolution was drafted by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Shaista Pervaiz Malik and was approved by a majority in the National Assembly amid strong opposition from opposition members.
In the resolution, the NA expressed regret for US Resolution 901, which called for a “full and independent investigation into allegations of corruption or irregularities” in the February 8 election.
The US resolution was completely contrary to reality and stated that Pakistan as an independent and sovereign country will not allow any interference in its internal affairs.
The lower house of parliament asked the US to maintain bilateral relations with Pakistan.
MNA Shaista further said that the resolution passed by the US House of Representatives was a clear “interference in internal affairs” even though it was not binding.
He also accused opposition lawmakers of encouraging attacks on Pakistan’s sovereignty after the country’s decision to “interfere in our internal affairs”.
