DALIAN: Pakistan advanced to the quarter-finals of the Asian Group Squash Championship in Dalian, China on Thursday, beating the hosts 3-0 in the final pool stage.
Noor Zaman, Farhan Mehboob and Nasir Iqbal won the match against their Chinese opponents today.
Pakistan is unbeaten in Pool C of the event with South Korea, Chinese Taipei and China.
Pakistan beat Taipei 3-0 and Korea 2-1 yesterday to get off to a good start to the tournament.
Nasir Iqbal, Asim Khan and Noor Zaman won the match against Taipei.
The quarter finals of the event will be played tomorrow. Pakistan’s opponents in the last eight matches are India.
The Pakistani team is coached by veteran Faheem Gul, who wants to ensure the national team wins a gold medal.
Pakistan is the most successful team in the history of Asian Men’s Squash Championship with 15 gold medals. However, the last time he won this event was in 2016.
India are the men’s champions in 2022 after winning the title in South Korea.
