Islamabad: Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that Pakistan values its relations with Iraq and wants to expand cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, especially in defense.
The minister said this in a meeting with Iraqi Ambassador Hamid Abbas Lafta, who invited him here on Thursday.
In a press release, the minister said that both countries should work together to exchange experiences and improve the capabilities of their allied forces.
He said Pakistan supports Iraq’s sovereignty, political integrity and territorial integrity.
“Pakistan created best training facilities and infrastructure for armed forces. “Many foreign countries are taking advantage of this opportunity, especially counter-terrorism training,” he said.
The Minister invited the guests to avail more educational institutions in Pakistan.
The visiting Ambassador emphasized and confirmed the commitment of the Iraqi people and government to work closely with Pakistan and strengthen bilateral relations, especially in the defense sector.
