DARWIN: Pakistan Shaheens’ tour of Darwin started with a dominant performance as they topped the first day of their four-dayer against Mohammad Huraira-starred Bangladesh A.
After being asked to bat first, the Shaheens posted a massive total of 375-2 as the Bangladesh bowlers had to answer to the exceptional skills of their batsmen.
Huraira came in as the opener with captain Sahibzada Farhan and the two combined for a superb 134-run partnership that put Pakistan on top from the outset. The skipper scored 66 runs off 83 balls with the help of 10 boundaries before losing the wicket to Ripon Mondol.
After the captain’s dismissal, Umer Amir, 34, came into bat and played a 77-ball 54-run innings with eight boundaries and was dismissed by Mondol.
Huraira continued to deliver for Pakistan as he dominated the Bangladesh players and played with great strike rate and aggressive intent. He combined with Kamran Ghulam after Amin and Farhan lost their wickets
The first day ended with Pakistan scoring 375-2, Huraira staying on the field with his commendable and unbeaten knock of 161 from just 203 deliveries with 19 boundaries while Ghulam made 74 runs off 114 balls with 11 boundaries.
