LAHORE: The Pakistan snooker team consisting of Awais Munir and Asjad Iqbal advanced to the quarter-finals of the ACBS Asia 15 Red Men Snooker Championship in Riyadh on Wednesday.
Pakistan won 89-0 (76), 64-23, 81-01 when they beat Saudi Arabia (2) 3-0. The Green Shirts then defeated Myanmar 3-0 to reach the quarter finals. The frame score was 87-39, 72-45, 71-25.
The 18 teams in the Asian Group Championship are divided into six groups. After the round robin, the top four teams go directly to the quarter finals. The remaining eight teams play before the quarter-finals, with the winner joining the four teams that have already qualified in the quarter-finals.
Munir previously won the 6th Red Snooker Championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday after defeating his Hong Kong opponent Nansen Wan.
Munir defeated his opponent 6-3. The game was tied 2-2 and Munir won in three straight sets to take a 5-2 lead. Nansen came back in the eighth frame.
But, in the ninth over, Munir showed excellent control and bowling to get the victory
