SHARJAH: The Pakistan U19 cricket team will play a 50-over tri-series with Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates from November 13 to 26, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Wednesday.
The venue for the tri-series is yet to be confirmed but Pakistan will face the UAE in the first match of the series as the tournament will be played in a dual league format with the top two teams qualifying for the finals.
The series will be played in preparation for the 2024 ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup, scheduled for later this year. The aim of the tri-series is to provide players with ample opportunities to prepare for the Asian event.
Ahead of the tri-series, the PCB will organize the U19 National Cup (Over 50) and Championship (three-day) in October, which will give the players a great platform to perform and impress the selectors and try to make it to the final squad to face Afghanistan and UAE in November .
PCB International Director Usman Wahla expressed his delight over the tri-series and said it provides an excellent opportunity for the players just ahead of the U-19 Asia Cup.
“We are delighted that the Pakistan U19 Men’s team will participate in a highly competitive U19 tri-series in the UAE just ahead of the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup. It will be a great opportunity for young players to grow and develop their skills,” said Wahla.
“The PCB is grateful to the Emirates Cricket Board for organizing this tri-series which also demonstrates the strong bilateral ties between the two boards and our shared commitment to the development of young players.”
