ABU DHABI: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) here on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting agricultural innovation and research related to the development and promotion of various aspects of date palm cultivation and related industries. Ambassador of Pakistan to UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi and Secretary General Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid Prof.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, according to the Pakistani Embassy in the UAE. The MoU will help in promoting cooperation and sharing of expertise between the two parties. It will also be an opportunity for Pakistani farmers to increase date palm cultivation, including through innovative ideas. The UAE is one of the pioneers and will provide technological support to Pakistan to increase date palm cultivation as Pakistan’s rich topography presents huge potential in the industry.
Pakistan’s first International Date Festival 2024 will also be organized under this MoU. Pakistan and the UAE have a brotherly relationship and are involved in a number of mutually beneficial joint projects, including political, economic, agricultural, cultural, energy and defense cooperation.
