ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Romina Khurshid Alam, said that Pakistan is committed to gender inclusiveness in mainstreaming national and climate action. He said gender is a priority area for action in our national climate policy and adaptation plan. He was speaking at the Pakistan Gender Climate Award 2024, organized by the Civil Society Coalition on Climate Change in collaboration with the Embassy of France, the French Development Agency, the Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan, the UAE Embassy and UNDP.

The Prime Minister’s Coordinator said that the recognition of women through the award ceremony shows the important link between gender and climate. It reminds us of the important role women play in advancing the climate movement, often in the face of unique challenges and obstacles. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to participating foreign governments for their invaluable support and cooperation in our collective journey towards a more resilient and sustainable future.
While celebrating the achievements of women, he remembered the late journalist Mr. Shabbir while reporting and raising awareness about climate change and said his ministry is working on a climate award on his behalf.
