A lot of sacrifices have been made to get independence from British’s rulers that our third generation is breathing but we don’t really feel it at all. That is the reason why as a nation we have left nothing that could not cause heartache to our founders. Although the rulers are chanting that everything is good, but in reality we have left nothing to ruin the country in every method even though dividing it.
It has been 84 years since the historic resolution was approved of establishing the separate homeland. On that day, Quaid-e-Azam had said that Hindus and Muslims belong to two civilizations based on opposite ideas and concepts. It was a powerful claim that brought the two-nation concept to fruition and thus emerged as the foundation of Pakistan and our forefathers raised Pakistan as an independent country as a social and political force besides its good economy. It carried forward the prosperous life of the nation while trying to make it one of the developed nations of the world.
At one time it seemed that Pakistan would become the first powerful country to represent Asia but this happened only for two decades and then came the time that shattered the dreams of our forefathers.
Economic strength started to be lost and due to collective incompetence we sank into depression. Present-day Pakistan seems to be condemning centuries of struggle which has led to its failures on all fronts, politics, economy and foreign relations.
We are having to face defeat on the same fronts. The main reason for this is that we have not become a nation even after such a long period of time. Due to mutual non-existence we are in poverty.
This is the severe form of our weakness and political disorder. It further weakens us as a united nation. Remember that our forefathers paid a huge price with their lives to be Pakistanis but we have not valued it at all then our actions seem to have brought us to the brink of financial failure.
Judging by the current state of the country, this is definitely its worst time where the IMF (International Monetary Fund) is forcing it to live beyond its means. Let go of the obsession, our other foreign creditors are also trying to set IMF-like conditions. As a result the rupee is depreciating rapidly against the dollar.
Meanwhile foreign direct investment is almost nil and the country is dependent on imports Increases inflation. The worst losers in this game of economic failure are the poor who are forced to stand in long lines to get flour while the rich are getting richer day by day in addition the roads are clogged with their expensive cars.
In the meantime when we see the extremes of political polarization it is also destroys the economy. The country’s political leadership is engaged in a deadly struggle to occupy the throne instead of serving it. So no matter what happens now the common citizens will have to pay the price for the sins of the political leaders now needless to say that this is a difficult time for the people of Pakistan.
On March 23rd let the entire nation take a renewed pledge to put Pakistan first and ourselves second in every sphere of our lives because the challenges we face are grave threats to our national survival. We have to win this war because the consequences of defeat are so dire that it cannot be imagined.
In this regard, Helen Keller’s famous saying is that “Optimism is the faith that leads to success, nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” Therefore it is necessary that the entire nation including our leadership that should pledge that it will not neglect her national responsibilities after that everyone should contribute to the reconstruct the country. If this is not done then we must remember that our story could be even worse in the next few years.
