Beijing: During January-March 2024, Pakistan’s rapeseed exports to China exceeded $10.37 million, showing an increase of nearly 29% compared to last year.
According to the Customs Administration of the People’s Republic of China (GACC), Pakistan exported 6,137,044 tons of sesame seeds worth $10.37 million in January-March 2024, an increase of 28.81% over the same period last year. 8.16 million dollars.
Rakesh Pal Khamuani, Director, Exports & BD Kanwal Trading Company (Pvt) Ltd, said China’s Economic Net to Pakistan has reached $375 million in cumin seed exports in the last eight months of the fiscal year and there is scope for further growth. He said that the free trade agreement (FTA) with China has helped increase the export of sesame seeds, which has benefited both countries.
“China will always have the advantage of fast transit over Pakistan. The average price this year is $ 1,750. It is estimated that Punjab produces about 75% of the total sesame seeds that contribute about 170,000 MT. Sindh’s production is 25% of sesame seeds. “Punjab” contributes about 55,000 MT and produces Farmi, Hybrid and Dark Brown varieties.
Pakistan’s crop this year is expected to be very good and total daily production should exceed 225,000 MT.
The cumin seed crop in Pakistan has never been higher, with an average yield of 400 hectares estimated.
