LAHORE, MANDI BAHAUDDIN: In a veiled response to political adversary Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice-President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz stated that parties with false rhetoric are playing the blame game.
The remark comes a day after the Nawaz-led party responded to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman’s fiery speeches, which have grown in intensity as the election date approaches on February 8.
Bilawal, a longtime ally of the former ruling party, has been openly attacking his political opponents, particularly the PML-N.
“Other parties criticise and level allegations all day and night,” the senator stated.
Maryam further stated that some parties in Punjab have ruled the province for 15 years but do not have even 15 developmental projects to show for their contribution to the people.
“A guy [present] in Punjab claims that Nawaz Sharif has not delivered the [party] manifesto. “Nawaz Sharif will deliver the manifesto in the coming days,” she continued.
The PML-N stalwart went on to say that she is conscious of her responsibility to serve the constituency’s people.
The politician then told the people that if she wins the elections, she will hold an active office in the constituency to address the people’s concerns and issues.
Maryam asked people to think carefully before voting, since the vote determines Pakistan’s destiny.
Separately, PML-N President and former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in an address to a rally in Mandi Bahauddin, made a veiled remark about Bilawal, claiming that someone had suggested they would release political prisoners if they came to power.
“I suggest they announce the abolition of personal prisons as well,” Shehbaz added, adding that his brother Nawaz, a three-time former prime minister, would create a new university in the city if given the opportunity.
